Komi Games is a game studio based in Toronto, Canada. We have recently worked on titles such as Psychonauts 2, Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge and King of Fighters XV, and we’ve partnered with SEGA to develop a dynamic character-focused action title. Role and Responsibilities
As a Game Designer, you will be responsible for designing fun and exciting characters and levels for our character-action game. You will be working closely with Komi leads and team members to ensure that your work fits artistic, design, and engine needs.
This is a full-time remote position. Applicants must reside in Canada.

Design melee-combat movesets for player and enemy characters.

Set up frame data and properties on animation-driven combat abilities.

Tuning damage values and ability properties to manage the game balance.

Work under the direction of the Creative Director to create high-quality 3D levels that fit the game’s design, using Unreal Engine 4 to whitebox and iterate on designs.

Create level and event scripting (camera rigging, character spawning and event triggers).

Ensure that designed levels fit within art requirements by coordinating with the Komi 3D art team.

Collaborate with Komi technical artists and programmers to ensure levels are effectively optimized.

Create, maintain and update game design documentation as needed.

Be an effective collaborator with the rest of the team.

Meet deadlines consistently.

Perform other tasks as needed.
Qualifications
-
2+ years of game development experience as a Game Designer.

At least 1 shipped game title.

Experience designing combat-centric gameplay scenarios.

Experience in Unreal Engine 4 with a focus on game and level design.

Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written.

Extremely strong collaborative skills.
